Our Ocean Youth Summit

The European Union, the Sustainable Oceans Alliance and the University of Malta co-hosted the second summit for young ocean leaders as a parallel event to the Our Ocean conference in Malta on 5-6 October 2017.

The 'Our Ocean, An Ocean For Life Leadership Summit' brought together 100 competitively-selected youth participants from around the world.

During the two-day event, the next generation of entrepreneurs, political and civil society leaders, scientists and researchers gathered in Malta to come up with visionary ideas on how to conserve and sustainably use Our Ocean, for the present and future generations. The students met with high-level ocean leaders and discussed action-oriented strategies to implement ocean commitments in their respective communities. The pledges put forward by the students can be found here.
